Container receiving checklist
What to send a warehouse before your container leaves the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, so it can be unloaded, counted, and put away without a phone call in the middle. Print it, or forward it to your supplier and freight forwarder.

Container receiving checklist
Before the container is released
- Packing list with SKU, description, and quantity per carton, and cartons per pallet if palletized
- Commercial invoice (for your customs broker; the warehouse only needs the packing list)
- Container number, seal number, and the steamship line
- Who is handling drayage from the port, and their contact
- Any special handling: fragile, oversized, stackability limits, orientation arrows
Carton and pallet labeling
- Every carton marked with SKU and quantity that matches the packing list
- Mixed cartons flagged as mixed, with contents listed
- Palletized loads: pallet count and stack pattern; floor-loaded: approximate carton count and weight
- Marketplace-bound inventory: note whether item labels and poly bags are already applied or need prep
Delivery details for the dock
- Delivery address: 4060 Mission Blvd., Montclair, CA 91763
- Delivery day confirmed with the warehouse in advance
- Live unload or drop-and-pick, and the container return deadline (last free day)
- A phone number for the person who can answer questions during unloading
What happens at receiving
- Cartons are counted against the packing list and checked for damage
- Shortages, overages, and damage are documented and reported to you
- Product is put away to located storage, or staged for forwarding or rework as instructed
- Counts are confirmed back to you on the cadence set up for your account
